Any excuse to eat tteokbokki!

Last week was my last phonics class with my two wonderful grade five students, Rebecca and Anthony. Their levels in English are very low, particularly their reading ability in comparison with their peers, so the focus of my afterschool class was phonics. I covered very basic ground and saw noticeable improvement during my time with them. At the beginning they struggled with single letter sounds and by the end they could read and write almost all CVC words without difficulty as well as some CCVC words and even construct some very basic sentences. They tried so hard in every class and never gave up and I was so proud of them and all that they achieved. So for our last class we had a little tteokbokki party with other snacks and drinks and I bought them both presents to reward them for their hard work and to encourage them to keep going with their English studies. Love them
Party time with two of my faves for our last ever phonics afterschool class.
This literally got me through the day and pretty much made my week. Such fun with these kids and lots of very proud 'WOW-I've-actually-taught-
these-kids-how-to-read' teacher moments ♥
