If you're having a bad time, stop and turn it around, Chelsea!

Since my last post I've been having a bit of a rubbish time. Maybe I jinxed myself. Haha. It's been mainly to do with my school and being told that I can't leave the school till the final day of my contract which is two weeks later than I thought I could leave. It's a long story and basically the vice-principal is just being awkward about it as most other native teachers are free to leave when they want as long as they have the remaining holiday days which is fair. It is completely pointless to keep me here for the first few days of the new semester and a waste of time and money for me to use the holiday days that I've saved up all year to sit and do nothing. Since I heard the news I've been angry, upset and disappointed that I'm feeling like this so close to the end of my time here.

...But today that stops. I am responsible for my own happiness. If I am having a bad time is because I've allowed myself to be consumed by negative thoughts and feelings. If you're having a bad time, Chelsea, turn it around by focussing on the good and forgetting about the bad. I am new to this inner happiness malarkey but I'm trying. Minor blip and we're back on track! :)
"Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it." Elizabeth Gilbert Eat, Pray, Love
